I've been busy.
I went on a family vacation. Seven of us cruised the Carribean for fourteen days over Christmas and New Years. I'll leave it with, "it was good to be home." I was ready to be on solid ground!
Earlier this month, I assisted my mom by being "her travel companion". We were on the Big Island of Hawaii for 17 days. I brought my laptop, some files and had grandiose plans of getting work done. Cell reception was limited and I was unable to use my phone as a hot spot. I did manage to get a surprising amount done while away from home as well as some other things not requiring the world wide web!
I brought three books with me, channeled my inner college student, and figured out a reading schedule for the 535 pages of the three books and landed in Anchorage, every page read!
I finished reading the book Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander, M.D. It was a Christmas gift from a friend. A good read, written by a neurosurgeon after his journey into the afterlife.
Next I read Horse Sense Business Sense by Shannon Knapp. It was recommended by the nonprofit equine-assisted therapy center I work with.
These two books were quick reads; didn't require note taking, focus, or "assignments."
The last book was Working Solo by Terri Lonier. If you have ever thought of running a solo business (a business where YOU are the only employee), I highly recommend this book! WOW!
I was able to step through my business plan (which other resources had made much more difficult). I came home ready to hit the ground running!
I've had a super productive week and am ready to work towards goals and keep moving forward!
While in Hawaii I kept getting email messages of my Idita-read spreadsheet selling over on Teachers Pay Teachers. The Iditarod starts Saturday, March 5. Check out the spreadsheet. It is amazing if I say so myself. Enter student names, and each week, minutes they have ready. Each minute equals a mile on the Iditarod trail. Each week, the spreadsheet calculates total minutes read and then states to which checkpoint the child has read to!
